Glass is an easily recyclable material and can be processed numerous times into new products without losing quality or causing any damage to its products.
In recycling facilities, glass is sorted by type and color, then cleaned and crushed into small pieces. This process allows for quicker melting of the material, which is done based on the color of the glass.
In Israel, a major challenge lies in separating clear/white glass from colored glass, as it’s the clear glass that is most in demand for producing sought-after clear glass containers.
Due to the absence of a dedicated facility for sorting glass, much of the glass waste is sent overseas for recycling.
